December

Brayden's school teacher took this photo and I absolutely fell in love with it! So cute :-)

It's off to a slow start here at the Rye house. I am hoping to knock out several cookies this weekend and my nut rolls. Also I plan on making my ornaments with Brayden. I am hoping this weekend is a much better one and really low key. We have no plans that take us out of the house so I am looking for a pajama party all weekend! I may run out tonight and rent a few movies for Brayden and some for daddy and I as well but that would be the extent of it.

I have started watching Season 1 of Fringe and I am addicted!! I am hoping I can rent the season at the movie place.

Hope everyones December is going well <3

Christmas Baking

I LOVE to bake for Christmas!!! So I am going over my list of cookies and etc. that I will be making this year. Here it goes:

Chocolate Chip
Peanut Butter
Almond Spritz
Sugar Cookie Cutouts
Oatmeal Raisin
Snickerdoodle
Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip
Pecan Tarts
Thumbprints
Nut Rolls
Chocolate Fudge
Peanut Butter Fudge
Glazed Pecans
Drop Sugar Cookies

I can't wait to get started! I usually decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving but I will not be in town. We are meeting Rick's parents for our Christmas visit since they live in Canada and neither of us get to travel all that often. So, I'll have to decorate the weekend after :-( OR...maybe if I can get the family motivated a few week nights we can do a little each time :-)

LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!!!

Halloween

Well, we made it through Halloween and boy did I have a blast! We walked around with Brayden's friend Jack and his lovely parents. We walked in their neighborhood, which is the same one my parents live in and it's actually perfect for Brayden. He completely impressed me, I'll admit for 2 years of age I didn't have high hopes. I thought for sure since I couldn't even get a costume on him that it would be like pulling teeth. He walked right up, either knocked on the door or rang the doorbell. That was as far as he did the rest was him just handing his pumpkin up or reaching in and helping himself. LOL. Not even a Thank You or a Happy Halloween.
 Jail Bird!!
 My jailbird!

Jack & Brayden Trick or Treating

He also had a Halloween Party at school the same day and wouldn't get his costume on there but he sure did want his candy! LOL
Gimmie candy, don't you see my bag

Transition Lifestyle

Okay, I am not one to try all these different diet plans, I did last spring join Weight Watchers. I was having great success but then my parents moved down and it took me way off track. I totally gave up in trying anymore because mom was cooking fabulous dinners and etc. As you may all know moms cooking is the best.
I recently took a class called Transition Lifestyle. It's an amazing thing. One that I could totally see how it works. It says it all in its name. It just making changes in your lifestyle to how you are eating. I have joined this ladies group, it's 6 week program. Basically you eat low-glycemic meals cut bad sugars. I am held accountable because they do a weigh in and measurments and body comp too. This is something I need to do. Make changes in my eating habits. I'll meet with her once a week for 6 weeks and then after the 6 week she'll meet with me once a month to still be acountable for myseld and track my progress. The 1st week you eat plenty of fruits and veggies, drink tea because its a detox week. Then from there you eat according to the book they give you that shows you what foods are low glycemic. I also have been turned on to Agave - which is a sweetner. Much better for you than the sugars and sweeteners out there. I'll try to document my progress weekly after I have my weekly meetings. I hope this makes the positive changes I am looking for in my life.

Wish me luck!!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins and more Pumpkins!

I LOVE Pumpkins!!! This past weekend we had our family friends in for a visit on Saturday. Sunday was a lay low kinda day. We ended up taking a ride to a side of the road pumpkin patch so that daddy and I could pick out our pumpkins. Brayden had already gotten his from Kersey Valley Maise Adventure but we still needed ours. So one night this week we will sit down together and carve them. Other than that on Sunday we didn't do too much. I did some baking. Saturday morning I made my lovely Pumpkin Rolls and Sunday I made Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. They were delish!! I also go all the ingredients to make my Lasagna Soup again!! I enjoyed not doing much this weekend. I am thinking this coming weekend will be the same as well. Family friends visiting Friday night and laying low Saturday and Sunday. My house is nice and clean. Most I'll have to do is laundry and maybe run the vacuum again. Enjoy the pictures of Brayden at the patch! Scrapbook too!!! Have books I need to finish!!!

Pinterst Recipes

Last week and this weekend I made a few recipes from my pins on Pinterest. First I made Pumpkin Cake....better than cake. It was a smash hit! (Sorry, no photo) Then I made, Pumpkin Fudge, another hit!

This fudge was super simple! I left out the Nutella, but it's swirled with marshmallow fluff and like I said it was a huge hit. It's simply made with Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses!

Lastly I made Lasagna Soup which I absolutely fell in love with! It's the perfect fall/winter soup. It was easy as well and I did make some substitutes but nothing major. You can find all of these under my Pinterest Boards. Click any of these...(cake), (fudge), (lasagna soup).
I promise you, you won't go wrong with any of these! I should have taken pictures but I'll be making them again soon so I'll be sure to add pictures then and do another food update!

That's the 1st time I tried to add links so I hope they work for you :-)

Pallet

Pallet!!! YAY!!! I few weeks back I found this Pallet on Pinterest and I fell in love. Ever since I had been on the hunt for the perfect pallet for my wall. Last Sunday I searched at Ricks work, all over the place and I just wasn't happy with the ones I had seen and believe I looked at tons!

Oddly enough, one day this week I picked up my mom to head to work and my dad opened the garage door. Tada!!! My dad had built me what I wanted or was looking for! My mom seen my post and showed him and he made it! It looks great!! I can't wait to hang it up this weekend, I just need to find the right place, I just haven't decided on that yet.

Then I'll need to find the right decorations to put in it but I already have all that in mind for sure.

If anyone would like one made for them, just let me know. He's making more to sell.

I <3 it!!!

Fall Fun

The weather around these parts has been amazing. Not too terribly hot during the day and then the evenings are perfect and at night it cools down so much. We haven't had our AC on in days. I hope it stays this way for a bit! Last night Rick cooked our steaks on the grill and Brayden and I played with his trucks outside. I gathered some rocks we had (decorative ones) in his sand pail and spread them out over our little table on the back deck. He thought that was great. I made roads within the rocks for him to drive his trucks through and he had his little dump trucks and digger helping move the rocks. It was too cute!! We did that until dinner was ready...then we ate. Brayden had chicken which he scarfed down along with some bread and corn. Then we went upstairs for our bath where while in the bath he proceeded to tell me "ni-night bed" he doesn't normally ever say that. Sure enough after we got our bath and our jammies on he was laying in his bed ready for his bedtime story. I mean I guess it was already 7:45pm. I usually have to tell him when bedtime is. He'd play until he could play no more.

I sat down this morning and made my list of everything up and coming I would like to do this fall. I am hoping to gather all my Halloween decorations this weekend and start that. The Dixie Classic Fair is at the end of the month. Then there is a Fall Festival in Asheboro I would like to take my mom to, that's the 1st weekend in October. Then our annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch too at Kersey Vally. I got B's costume as well, so I am looking forward to Trick or Treating this year too! We are going to walk my parents neighborhood while they hand out candy. You'll never guess what we are this year.....ELMO!

Our dear friends Debbie and Duane will be in from Tennessee on Oct 20th for a visit, they'll get to see Brayden, it's been since Sept or Oct 2010 I believe since they last seen him :-),

I am SO ready for all my fall baking. Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Pumpkin!!! I enjoy the Holidays!! Nothing better than Family and Friends!!

Stitches

So, I ranted about relaxation the other day. Last Thursday I came to work, with little sleep. I could not sleep from about 12am until 3am. I was up watching Big Brother After Dark. I even got in a hot bath in hopes it would help make me sleepy, and it didn't. I had a feeling Thursday was not going to be a good day from the start. I am really trying to have more positive thinking and a more positive outlook on life because down deep it is GREAT! The issues I am struggling with right now ARE fixable it is going to take a little time, something I am trying to deal with as well. Patience.

Anyways, my poor little man ended up falling at school Thursday the 6th and busted the area above his lip and below his nose. Enough to the point that he needed to get 4 stitches. It pained me to watch him have to go through what he did but id was completely necessary. I am thankful it wasn't worse than what it could have been and I am thankful that he didn't have to get put to sleep for his stitches.

It's looking rather well as of Today, Monday 9/10/12. It has a big scab on it but not really attached to his skin, basically hanging on to a piece of his stitch I believe, I am praying it falls off rather soon so I can get in to the cut and put peroxide and neosporin on it like I am supposed to. Over the weekend he stated "boo boo off"'. Awe, my baby. He was a big boy and a good boy for what he had to go through.

Here's to hoping for a more positive and better week ahead!!

Relaxing - My magic word for today

We just got back from our 11 day vacation, which in a way doesn't feel like a vacation at all. Driving 4 days of the 11, then where my husband grew up there's no close towns and for this city chic I mean, to get anywhere you have to drive at least 25 minutes. That's all it seemed like we did all week long, drive. The word vacation to me feels like it should be relaxing and there was nothing relaxing about our 11 days.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed visiting his family, and my family and friends in PA (on our way back home) but again comes back to not relaxing. I guess there is no relaxing with a 2 year old either. I hope that next year we can incorporate an actual vacation, beach bound or to somewhere that is actually relaxing. I did enjoy doing lots of shopping, mostly for Brayden. I pretty much stocked him up on his fall/winter wardrobe along with fall/winter pajamas.  He is definitely set as far as clothes go.
I only have a few more items I need to get him from Santa and he's practically done there as well. I did get a few items in Canada, figured I'd grab them while I had the chance.
Since our bathroom remodel I have been in the mood to have my house actually decorated and NOT so bland and plain. My dad has done a bunch to help out with this - wanting me to decorate by actually helping us out and painting the inside of our house for us. So I managed to get new items for our Master bath to go with the new tile and paint, next is our bedroom which I already got us a new comforter for in there and sheets (the dogs have no access to our room when we are not home so it doesn't get ruined by them laying on it), dads going to paint in there next. I basically need at this point wall hangings. I don't have very many picture frames or any wall art to go with any of our decor. Other than these horrible man pictures that Rick has that need to go really! LOL.  I let him use them to fill the walls temporarily. Sad thing is I am just now getting into doing all this and have NO intentions of staying here for very long.

Down and out

Hello World!! I hate when my house gets ill. This Flu bug was going around daycare and it hit the Rye house HARD!! First was Brayden, then was Mommy and as I type now Daddy. I honestly felt like death. Not that I really know what that feels like but if I had to imagine a form of?!? LOL I am glad to report Brayden and myself seem to be doing so much better. Just thinking of Rick being ill makes my tummy hurt. Still a small appetite which I don't mind at all. Hopefully this can jump start some weight loss for me!! Last week I lacked all motivation, I believe because I hadn't felt well for days leading up to my big day where it knocked me out. I felt like a truck hit me!!! Saturday I couldn't move!! I managed to soak in a HOT bath and that seemed to help my bones and muscles. Other than that - I was down and out!
Which is horrible for my house because I managed to clean nothing!! I hate that, nonetheless our master bath is being renovated. which makes me feel like my house is a wreck even more!! The bathroom didn't need it but a dear friend of ours gave us some awesome tile and so my dad is laying new floor for us and he painted it as well. I LOVE the new color. Our bedroom is next and I am so excited for the finished product. Progress photos to come at a later date.We recently had Brayden's 2 Year Portraits done and I am in love with them. I look at the photos in such awe, can't believe it's my child! He's is SO photogenic its crazy! You can only imagine what Daddy and I were doing to get some of those faces! I have so much to do before Friday and so little time. I need to hire a maid to clean my house, and help finish my laundry, I am desperate!! Considering I have to work until 7pm tonight and possibly Thursday! I need a haircut and my brows waxed too! Grr - on a rant here. Okay well I have attached a few photos of little's 2 Years. Love to all!

He's growing too fast for me and I am ready for another baby in the house, MAYBE??

Potty Training

Potty training, Brayden has moved up to the 2's room at daycare and that's when the kiddos start training for the potty. They have a potty room in their class and I've been meaning to ask his lovely teacher when they may start with Brayden at school.

I have been asking him at home, I showed him his new potty and before bath time I ask if he needs to go potty and he tells me no. Once he gets in the tub he pees. Or even when he gets outta the tub before I manage to get the diaper on he's running all over the house peeing.

He tells me, "Mommy poop" and he pats his bum. So I know he knows when he has to or when he actually does it. Last night he was telling me he pooped but I check his bum and nada!

So I am not too sure how all this is going to work out. I don't want to push him or be too hard on him, I want him to have an enjoyable potty training experience. No anxieties over going potty.

I've trained many of dogs in my day but this is going to be a weird experience trying to train him. :-)

Not much going on here lately. Hopefully many adventures soon! We've already got our Halloween costume, yay!! Looking forward to Christmas already too! I just can't wait for Fall weather.

Oh, we also had Brayden's 2 year portraits done last weekend so hopefully I'll have those back soon so I can post pictures!! I had them done with http://www.shawnamoorephotography.com/. She does AMAZING photos!!! I am pretty sure she captured some great moments!! I'll post those once I get them!

Brayden turns 2 & Nashville

As you all know Brayden turned 2 on July 31st. I have pictures of his birthday party, I'll post this weekend. Rick and I also got back from our trip to Nashville, TN. It's rough leaving on a Friday on the go all day Saturday and then leaving 1st thing Sunday morning. It's an 8 hour drive from Nashville to High Point, NC. We left Brayden with my parents for the weekend and I'm sure they had a blast but wore them out too! I can only imagine how Rick felt because he drove the whole time played 3 hockey games (Goalie) as I ran him in between games. Downtown Nashville it a party scene like no  other. It's nothing like VEGAS! It's crazier I think. It's crowded, bars are packed full, the music artist trying to make names for themselves putting a bucket in your face for money.I will say it's not a place to live. I believe most people that live there would have to be drunk 24/7. No joke!

From our hotel Antique Archeology  (American Pickers - History Channel) it not far from our hotel so I was hoping to see Mike, Frank or Danielle! I love Mike but Danielle is my kinda gal. We didn't see any celebrities but I got to see items they picked that were displayed in their store and recognized many items. I picked up a shirt for myself and a shirt for my dad. He loves  pickers!!

I love all our friends we have acquired from going to this tournament. They are great!! On our way home from Nashville we stopped in Knoxville to visit family friends of our I've known since I may have been in diapers as far as I can remember. Okay so onto Brayden turning 2. So when they turn 2 they are moved up to the 2's room at his school. It goes Infant 1, Infant 2 and Toddlers and Two's. That's all I know so far. Brayden is missing his friends from his Tod's class but they will be moving up soon so no worries. He talks about them all the time. Jack, Parker's and Jackson. His buddies! Plus he has a girl that he really admires and speaks of often, even if he sees a little girl around her age he thinks it's her. He asks for her all the time. Addyson. The teacher mentioned they were eating cereal for breakfast one morning and B would take a bite when she would and as soon as she finished at the table he got up and followed her. He stands outside on his play area and yells over the fence to his Tod class and yells for Jack and they run along the fence with one another. I find all this so adorable. They are just babies and making new discoveries in this would. It's amazing. A teacher of his nabbed some good shots and sent them to me. I love them!! Here are a few others - randoms.

My next post - Potty training?!?!

Worry - Stress - Anxiety - Patience (I'm telling on myself)

I over the past several years have become the worlds WORST worry wart. I mean I've always had my qualms but NEVER were they ever to the extreme that they are today. I have always had no patience but in the idea of when I wanted fun things or clothes and etc. I didn't want to wait. I have sat and gave this a little thought and have figured out that most of these feeling and etc. started after my brother passed away in April of 2007. Prior to that life was great! I mean it was getting great! At that time in my life I had my family, friends and everything I could want or ask for. I was happy go lucky! What's crazy to me it how much loosing a close family member impacts you in ways that you can't even recognize. I have lost friends, other family members but loosing my brother was it for me. It's been 5 years and I don't know how to get the old me back. I don't know how to work through those worries and anxiety's. Here are a few examples:

Storms: I LOVE the idea of thunderstorms and I love the idea of being home on rainy days, in jemmies and watching movies and vegging out! But when I am trying to sleep at night my greatest fear is TORNADO!!! I Never would even think of them before! Needless to say I have a weather alert on my iPhone and plenty apps weather related.

Sickness: I am so bad with this one. No matter what the issue with me, I'm dying. WHY???? I must give myself a little credit. Ever since Brayden was born he has had the flu twice and Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (Horribly), twice and also, wheezing and issues there where he was on breathing treatments. I seem to remain calm and take care of my baby like I'm a pro at it. Yes, I am upset he's sick but, don't let me get sick or have any aches or pains.

Brayden School: All this chaos in the world today has me freaking about not wanting to send B to school. I would LOVE to possibly home school but I fear that will he be well rounded without the interaction of other students. He's made great friends at daycare and that's awesome to me. He's only 2 I know but I've met the parents and they are just great, friendly and super sweet. It didn't take me long to figure out who his buddy's are there and i just love it! I don't want to release my child to the public - school shootings. I mean we can't even go to a movie theatre anymore without getting shot up! WTH do I do. I want to make the right choice. I have time to mull this one over and make a good decision I hope. We are looking to move into a different school district one that is better than where we live right now and into one that I have read up on that he will actually get an education from (if we are not home schooling)

Shopping: I generally have NO fear when I am out shopping. I pay attention to all my surroundings and just keep on. I don't usually ever go in the evenings alone. I find myself thinking how I am more a target because I am occupied with a toddler. Not so on guard anymore. Distracted per say.

I need to get myself under control and CALM down before it really kills me!! Stress is a horrible killer. Without taking pills, any ideas??

I read this story the other day and it brought me to tears, it made me think even more than I already do. How do I turn of my thinking cap when need be and think when I actually should be thinking?!?!?!

Currently

Currently...

Loving: Listening to my little Brayden talking, it seems to be more and more each day and it's so amazing to me. It puts a huge smile on my face.

Reading: At the current time, nothing. I am trying to get myself into the mood of what I want to read next. If you have any good reads you want to share please do!!

Watching: Weeds, Big Brother, Dead Files, American Pickers - we record everything and watch when we can :-)

Anticipating: Brayden's 2nd birthday party July 28th and his actual birthday July 31st! Our Nashville trip and our Canada trip both in August!

Listening to: No Shoes Radio - Love Kenny Chesney :-)

Planning: Halloween costume and Christmas gifts, lol.

Working on: Trying to finish my parents photo album of Brayden's 1st year (it was their Christmas gift for 2011) I'd like to have it done soon!!

Wishing: Good health and happiness for my family, The best life for Brayden that I can provide, for one more day with my brother so he'd know how much I loved him before his passing and maybe for him to tell me how or why from his perspective.

Summer Fun - and in other ways....

I want to start by saying we took Brayden to Lazy 5 Ranch a few weeks ago and he LOVED it! (Pictures to follow) It was an experience I must say. Seeing as the animals can come right up to your car window for food, and they get in the way of your drive through, it was rather comical. My Mom and Dad went with Brayden and I because daddy was playing in a hockey tournament in Greensboro. So, we decided to go off and do something fun! Pap pap drove through the ranch, Grammy was in the back and Brayden and I rode shotgun. Needless to say B and I were the only ones with our window down!! At one point there was an ostrich that was chasing after our car and I didn't know it until he caught up and poked his head right in at me!! Scared the daylights out of myself and B!! We got a great laugh out of it though! We will be going back there for sure, next time taking daddy!!

The week after the ranch, Rick and I went to see Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw in Charlotte. Rick was in a hockey tournament there over the weekend so after his Sunday game we stayed in Charlotte and did a small amount of sight seeing. The concert was at 4:30 and it rained off and on but it was nice for us because our seats were under an overhang! We didn't get wet at all and it was rain or shine :-) Kenny was amazing as usual. This was my 3rd time seeing him in concert and he's never a let down. I had a great time, we snuck out a little early to relieve my parents from baby sitting duty because it was late and we still had about an hour and a half drive home. Thanks to my hubby for this wonderful birthday gift!!

At the end of June I joined a bible study group that runs for 6 weeks and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it yet. It's interesting to say the least and I already had to miss 1 week because I was sick. I hated missing but it was necessary, and I didn't want to get anyone else sick either. I'll post more on this topic later.

We didn't do anything for July 4th except cookout with my parents. It had been in the 100's so we had been spending most our time indoors due to the extreme heat. Brayden understood fairly well, we would just explain how it's too hot. So following his question of wanting to go outside he'd say "Hot". So he knew :-)

Our housing community had a yard sale this past weekend and we participated and it was a great turn out!! My parents brought stuff over as well and I must say we made a great amount of money. We are putting all of the money towards Braydens Birthday. We booked his party already for Bumper Jumpers, an indoor inflatable jump place. He loves going there when we take him and seeing as anything outdoors will be extremely hot we thought this would be perfect. We plan on buying him a motorized jeep, super excited to see his face when he sees that!

This past Sunday we went swimming at my parents community pool, but not until 6pm because our day was filled. I baked in the morning, zucchini bread and chocolate chip cookie bars. Then we had a neighbor come over and show us a demo of the knives she is selling. That took a while and then it was rather late so we ended up putting B down for a nap. While the boys slept I ran and got B a vest for the pool. So we headed to my parents for a quick meal and then to the pool. B played so hard at the pool and he loved his new vest. With that he discovered he could jump in the water and that was all he wanted to do the whole time. He even was standing on the edge of the pool backwards and would trust fall into the pool. I swear I hope this no fear thing changes for him!! So, after about an hour and a half he was getting wore out and you could tell. He was starting to fall down a bunch. Besides the fact that he kept checking out this little girl that was there swimming too, he is his fathers son! So him not paying attention he'd fall more. Well among one of those falls he managed to catch his left foot, big toe and it tore the toe nail completely off!! He was crying but I managed to stop most of the bleeding. That ended our time at the pool. We went home and my parents ran to Walgreen's for me and got some gauze and stuff to wrap it up. I flooded it with neosporin and wrapped his foot up.

I kept him home from day care yesterday, he stayed with my parents and while I was at work, I decided to call the doctor and speak to a nurse to make sure if he should be seen or not. She explained it was best in case they needed to run him on a round of antibiotic. Well the doctor said it was a clean rip and that we were doing the right thing already and that we need to continue wrapping it for a few weeks. He said it could take 6 months to a year before his nail grows back. He must have liked the doctor he seen because he ended up giving him knuckles and showing him his muscles. I'll have to get a video of that muscles because it is hilarious! Anyways, we went and bought him a size up in crocs so after wrapping his foot and getting the sock on it fits. Poor baby, he walks around saying foot, boo boo :-( Breaks my heart!

and in other ways....any fun ideas we had of pool time, or the beach. No can do :-( With his foot we can't do anything that requires his sock to be off. My child also hates having his socks on, so I have to keep a close eye and make sure he doesn't try to pull it off. At night for bed we only put one sock on the boo boo foot and he seems to do okay with that.

Tid Bits

I can't believe how much more Brayden is talking it just amazes me everyday. We all get home in the evenings after work and he always has something new to say! Plus, I can't get over how smart he is! My mom told him that a door was locked the other day and he told her "keys" ...how the heck did he know that?!?
We recently went to a birthday party at this cool little water park, but it was only of sprinklers and things like that. So, he was all changed and ready to go and he just kept clinging to me, I was sitting on the wall beside the sprinklers and daddy just happened to be sitting on the wall across from me. (a good distance away) well Brayden started to get a bit brave and would run back and fourth between the 2 of us. Only thing, he wasn't getting wet at all, he was avoiding all the water! He was having fun though!! lol. Well the more he ran the braver he got and eventually he ended up in the water and he loved it!!
We also got him a water table last weekend and that has been a huge hit with him too! We were outside Sunday morning at 9am playing with his new table. We let daddy sleep in for Father's Day and so we played. It was hot enough at 9am so I didn't mind playing in water either!

This weekend Rick is in a Hockey Tournament in Charlotte and so Saturday we will be spending it with my parents. I am going to work on some party planning for Brayden's birthday and then I was thinking of going to Lazy 5 Ranch with my parents and Brayden since daddy wont be home. Then Sunday I get to go to Charlotte with Rick and after his hockey game it's Kenny Chesney time!!! Yay!!! I am super excited!

Have a great weekend all!!!
