Summer Fun - and in other ways....

I want to start by saying we took Brayden to Lazy 5 Ranch a few weeks ago and he LOVED it! (Pictures to follow) It was an experience I must say. Seeing as the animals can come right up to your car window for food, and they get in the way of your drive through, it was rather comical. My Mom and Dad went with Brayden and I because daddy was playing in a hockey tournament in Greensboro. So, we decided to go off and do something fun! Pap pap drove through the ranch, Grammy was in the back and Brayden and I rode shotgun. Needless to say B and I were the only ones with our window down!! At one point there was an ostrich that was chasing after our car and I didn't know it until he caught up and poked his head right in at me!! Scared the daylights out of myself and B!! We got a great laugh out of it though! We will be going back there for sure, next time taking daddy!!

The week after the ranch, Rick and I went to see Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw in Charlotte. Rick was in a hockey tournament there over the weekend so after his Sunday game we stayed in Charlotte and did a small amount of sight seeing. The concert was at 4:30 and it rained off and on but it was nice for us because our seats were under an overhang! We didn't get wet at all and it was rain or shine :-) Kenny was amazing as usual. This was my 3rd time seeing him in concert and he's never a let down. I had a great time, we snuck out a little early to relieve my parents from baby sitting duty because it was late and we still had about an hour and a half drive home. Thanks to my hubby for this wonderful birthday gift!!

At the end of June I joined a bible study group that runs for 6 weeks and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it yet. It's interesting to say the least and I already had to miss 1 week because I was sick. I hated missing but it was necessary, and I didn't want to get anyone else sick either. I'll post more on this topic later.

We didn't do anything for July 4th except cookout with my parents. It had been in the 100's so we had been spending most our time indoors due to the extreme heat. Brayden understood fairly well, we would just explain how it's too hot. So following his question of wanting to go outside he'd say "Hot". So he knew :-)

Our housing community had a yard sale this past weekend and we participated and it was a great turn out!! My parents brought stuff over as well and I must say we made a great amount of money. We are putting all of the money towards Braydens Birthday. We booked his party already for Bumper Jumpers, an indoor inflatable jump place. He loves going there when we take him and seeing as anything outdoors will be extremely hot we thought this would be perfect. We plan on buying him a motorized jeep, super excited to see his face when he sees that!

This past Sunday we went swimming at my parents community pool, but not until 6pm because our day was filled. I baked in the morning, zucchini bread and chocolate chip cookie bars. Then we had a neighbor come over and show us a demo of the knives she is selling. That took a while and then it was rather late so we ended up putting B down for a nap. While the boys slept I ran and got B a vest for the pool. So we headed to my parents for a quick meal and then to the pool. B played so hard at the pool and he loved his new vest. With that he discovered he could jump in the water and that was all he wanted to do the whole time. He even was standing on the edge of the pool backwards and would trust fall into the pool. I swear I hope this no fear thing changes for him!! So, after about an hour and a half he was getting wore out and you could tell. He was starting to fall down a bunch. Besides the fact that he kept checking out this little girl that was there swimming too, he is his fathers son! So him not paying attention he'd fall more. Well among one of those falls he managed to catch his left foot, big toe and it tore the toe nail completely off!! He was crying but I managed to stop most of the bleeding. That ended our time at the pool. We went home and my parents ran to Walgreen's for me and got some gauze and stuff to wrap it up. I flooded it with neosporin and wrapped his foot up.

I kept him home from day care yesterday, he stayed with my parents and while I was at work, I decided to call the doctor and speak to a nurse to make sure if he should be seen or not. She explained it was best in case they needed to run him on a round of antibiotic. Well the doctor said it was a clean rip and that we were doing the right thing already and that we need to continue wrapping it for a few weeks. He said it could take 6 months to a year before his nail grows back. He must have liked the doctor he seen because he ended up giving him knuckles and showing him his muscles. I'll have to get a video of that muscles because it is hilarious! Anyways, we went and bought him a size up in crocs so after wrapping his foot and getting the sock on it fits. Poor baby, he walks around saying foot, boo boo :-( Breaks my heart!

and in other ways....any fun ideas we had of pool time, or the beach. No can do :-( With his foot we can't do anything that requires his sock to be off. My child also hates having his socks on, so I have to keep a close eye and make sure he doesn't try to pull it off. At night for bed we only put one sock on the boo boo foot and he seems to do okay with that.
